Natural Facial Scrubs & Masks

Since the weather has been so ridiculously hot, you may find that your skin is reacting to it unfavorably. Super oily? Prickly flare-ups? Try these affordable DIY treatments for immediate results. Most of the ingredients are already in your kitchen cupboard.

OILY SKIN MASK:
Blend 1/4 of a small cucumber,* 1/4 cup of oatmeal with a teaspoon of yogurt. Leave mask on for at least 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with cool water to close pores.
*Cucumber has gentle astringent properties.

DRY SKIN MASK:
Mash ripe banana, 1/4 cup of yogurt and one tbsp of raw honey* together. Apply to face and neck for 10 minutes. Gently remove with damp cloth. Rinse with warm water.
*Raw honey is full of antioxidants, helps skin retain moisture and prevents premature aging.

SCRUB for MATURE SKIN:
Dissolve 1 tbsp of raw sugar* into water or add the sugar to your favorite creamy cleanser. Gently massage into your skin allowing mixture to penetrate. Rinse and follow with moisturizer of your choice.
*The sugar cane contains glycolic acid to act as an exfoliant, reduces wrinkles and generates circulation.

MASK to FADE DISCOLORATION:
Mix a tablespoon of honey and lemon juice.* Spread onto face and neck until it tightens a bit. Rinse thoroughly.
*Vitamin C in lemon juice brightens skin tone and the citric acid fades blemishes.

Tips to Remember:

  • Do not use ingredients you are allergic to. You may need to do a patch test first.
  • Use gentle, circular motions when exfoliating to avoid irritating or scratching skin.
  • Exfoliate at night when skin cells replenish and heal.
  • Always avoid the eye area.

  1. Thanks for all your beauty care tips...they are wonderful. I responded to a couple of your recent tips by ordering Lash Out Loud & Secret # 3. These where your tips posted on your blog from last week. I've been trying the mascara and I'm truly satisfied with them (3 came in the package). I'm not a full make-up person but I always wear eyeliner and mascara. My recent purchase (about a month ago) with eyeliner (Loreal) came from one of your tips from last month. Keep it coming with these tips...you're doing an excellent job. I look forward to reading your tips everyday.

  2. These are really great tips.
I myself use pure brown sugar and extra virgin olive oil as a (after soap) all over exfoliant. After rinsing the sugar from your body pat yourself dry with your towel and your skin stays moisturized (without extra lotion or oils) for the whole day.

**you have to make sure the olive is not too much that it melts the brown sugar but enough to wet it.

  5. I've been using a facial mask called ChiQui Beaute Mud to Go for almost two months now and I can honestly say that it works. The masks are paraben-free and preservative-free, so they won't harm your skin like other skincare products can. I used to have horrible cystic acne on my forehead and chin, but now I don't break out as much, my skin is much smoother and I don't get an oily shine on my face anymore. I use the Lightening mask to help fade my old acne scars and sunspots on my cheeks. I've noticed a huge difference and so have my friends. My skin gets better and better every time I use it. I use it 1-2 times a week and leave it on for about 15 minutes. It's like getting a facial every week without the huge price-tag. If you get blackheads like I do, you can also use it just around your nose to clear out grime from your pores. Their website is http://chiquibeaute.com. I used this promo code "J10DOLLAROFF" for $10 off any facial mask. It is a little pricey, but it's really well worth the money because it works! Hope this helps! :) P.S. If you request a sample from them, they'll send you one!! :D

  6. Hey Jessica.

I checked the site and LOVE the ingredients in the mask...olive oil, grapeseed oil, cucumber extract, vitamin E, chamomile. Really good stuff for healthy skin. Anxious to try it so I will request a sample. Thanks for your recommendation. Keep the feedback coming!
